Join us for Sunday Morning With Dean Bowen, poet and psychonaut, on Sunday 17 November, 10.30-12.30. Together we will explore language and how it transforms the body. Far from animating and articulating artworks, 'Sunday Morning With' aims to create an environment where bodies, materials, ideas, and conversations come together, as a place to share ideas for artistic practice and the community that surrounds Shimmer. Dean Bowen (b1984, The Netherlands) is a poet, performer, psychonaut, and Rotterdam's city poet. As a writer, he is mainly investigating the dynamics of the composite identity and how it relates to both political and social positioning. For this, he uses the poem as an instrument and as a democratic space to capture that polyphony. On the edge of Rotterdam’s port, Shimmer is an exhibition space that operates with an ever-changing studio-like mentality where knowledge arises through participation and experimentation. Alongside the expanded exhibition Higher! Higher! Lower, Lower. Louder! Louder! Softer, Softer are platforms such as the events program Sunday Mornings With and the online mixtapes On the Waves With, as a means to move through personal and public space. Shimmer is co-initiated by Eloise Sweetman and Jason Hendrik Hansma in February 2018. Shimmer is on the second of floor. Shimmer is funded by a modest savings generated by Shimmer's directors and run on a volunteer basis. If you would like to support this program, kindly get in touch.
